Church groups for me and you.Unlike most
Catholics, I was not born a catholic or rather I was not baptised at birth. So, at the age of 7, I was baptised as a
catholic by choice. Then also, I was still young and naive, oblivious to the what is happening around church- all the ministries, RCIY all the events that was taking place in church etc.
I was a 'Sunday
catholic' meaning going to church on Sundays just cause I was made to and not realising that it it actually a celebration with
Christ to be called home with him.
Then, the turning point in my life. Recalling that faithful Friday, I attended the first session with my
sister who was rather reluctant to go actually but she eventually did later.
As I entered
St Francis room, where the session was held, unfamiliar faces glared at me. Initially, I felt rather unwelcome and unaccepted due to the fact that I knew no one else but my
sister. However, within few minutes into group discussion, I felt like I was one of them. They approached me so friendly and warmly like a family and I felt the sincerity in each and everyone of them.
Of course, this sincerity in every member of
CYF did not end there. The love in that small little youth group is growing everyday and reaching out to youths with no direction in church.
Every session with a different topic to look upon, have not only increased my knowledge on the whole in church it has also instilled some moral values and realise how fortunate I am compared to the less fortunate who cannot even afford what I take for granted such as the use of tissue paper.
I have met fabulous people from
CYF and it is them who always encourage me at my darkness moments in life and also who are always there serving as my pillar of hope. Reminding me the importance of
Christ's love and of course his divine presences.
Today, no longer termed as a 'Sunday
catholic', I would try to attend daily mass as I thought that it was the only Right way to end a day's work right. Though weekdays life may be hectic, but for the
scriptures of Christ, I would say it is worth it. For nothing is this material world worth more than the
scriptures of Christ either than itself.
I also realise that even the whole world turn against you,
Christ will be always there as your light crafting the right pave for you but it is up to you to accept his love for you or to deny it.
With
CYF members who treats you like own individuals, and accept you for who you are, it is almost impossible for you to lead a life like a loner. Like the
trinity, it helps your spiritual, emotional and lastly physical growth.
Why not spend your Fridays night in church, fellowship with
members rather than staying at home wasting your time away.
Faith plays an important role as a catholic, without faith we as catholics should not be called catholics. Through
CYF my faith in
Christ has grown tremendously.
"Faith is a gift from God to each and everyone of us. We must pray to the holy spirit so that the holy spirit will help us to make good use of this gift"
